I heard someone point out that there is also a kind of full-circle thing going on in Cole's final PWG opponent being Callihan, as as Cole was Callihan's final PWG opponent before he signed with WWE.

he was, then he returned to AAA and he had that whole problem with AAA putting him under the Octagon Jr mask, and the original Octagon being a dick about it, and so he left AAA and became independent. I'm not sure if he went back to DG, but he debuted for PROGRESS at SSS16, and i'm sure he's been going around more indies now

I've seen a match here and there, saw the latest Riddle matches from beyond and wxw and the Keith Lee one from EVOLVE 81ish. I don't think he's a bad wrestler, I just think he's a void of charisma and I hate his face, it's one of those wrestlers that you just hate with no reason whatsoever.

I'm watching Dunne vs Dijak in PROGRESS 50 soon, maybe a progress environment can make me turn around on him.

I won't deny that he's a bit devoid of charisma, but he's been able to have great matches with guys ranging in size from Keith Lee to Josh Bodom, so I'm sure he'll be fine with whoever they stick him in their with.
